Write-In Candidates
A write-in candidate’s name does not appear on the ballot. Instead, voters are asked to physically write in the person's name on the ballot. The list of registered write-in candidates will be made available online and posted at each polling place or vote center.
Write-in candidates do not need to file nomination petitions. In Arizona law, a write-in candidate must file paperwork with the Secretary of State, no later than 5 pm on the 40th day before the election. Only votes for registered write-in candidates will count.
(Be aware that Uniformed and Overseas Voters may receive their ballots before the filing deadline for write-in candidates.)
